Dean's Message

Dr. HatchWelcome to the College of Arts and Sciences at Albany State University. The College is made of the following Departments: Arts & Humanities, Mathematics, Computer Science and Physics, Natural Sciences and Social Science.

The College seeks to develop our student’s ability to communicate effectively and to analyze critically the foundations upon which cultural and human perceptions are built. We help students to explore works of intellect from around the world, and to exercise their own minds creatively.

At the heart of the College of Arts and Sciences are our faculty members: dedicated and effective undergraduate and graduate professors who help in realizing the potential of our students to becoming creative scholars and artists.

We are ready to offer not only exciting classroom learning but other unique events to interact with fellow students and faculty. Many programs have Learning Communities for our majors which expand your experiences and Study Abroad opportunities to take you around the world. Take advantage of your college experiences by exploring what we have to offer through the College of Arts and Sciences.

We are at an exciting time here at Albany State University as we unveil tremendous events and activities. One of which is the construction of an 80,000 square-foot Fine Arts Center. The ultra-modern building will include multi-purpose instructional spaces, lecture and recital halls, a band rehearsal room, instrumental and choral rehearsal spaces, art studios and a “black box” studio theater. The building will incorporate over 50 professional staff offices, 12 classroom and general instruction, and eight studio art classrooms.

I invite you to browse our website and to direct inquiries to specific departments, to the Office of Recruitment and Admissions. Our office will also be glad to assist you in any way we can, and would be delighted to hear from you.
