Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts

Nyota Tucker, Project Director

This Interdisciplinary Liberal Arts Learning Community seeks to create a series of innovative and engaging activities which provokes thought, encourages creativity and builds a community of learners who thrive both in and outside the classroom.Arranged around an interactive cluster of liberal arts courses in history, government and literature, this non-residential learning community is a cooperative enterprise between faculty and students who explore the interconnections between the disciplines and measure the impact these areas have on individuals and the society in which we live.Students will have frequent opportunities to meet with faculty and other students outside of the classroom in a congenial environment which fosters communication and intellectual engagement. From "Pizza and Politics" get-togethers to organized study hall midnight snacks, there will be plenty of opportunities for problem solving, sharpening critical thinking skills and just learning how to get along with others.Students will have their own website, a two semester subscription to the New York Times, and an opportunity to build friendships that will last a lifetime.Freshmen Honor Students enrolled in HONR1151 – Honors World History I, HONR 1161 – American Government and HONR 1101 – Honors Seminar I during Fall Semester 2007 are invited to apply.

Profile:Non-residential; 30 freshmen honor students
