The RAM community consists of two linked classes, Fundamentals of Public Speaking (COMM 1100) and Music Appreciation (MUSC 1100).The linked classes share a common theme: Cultural Intersections: Using Public Speaking Skills to Express An Appreciation of Music Literature from the Sixth Century to the Present. While the Music Appreciation class provides information regarding music's cultural influences, the Public Speaking class will ask students to deliver speeches regarding the subject.Skills learned in one class will be applied in the other—thereby strengthening basic skills and helping students to better see connections among the two disciplines. The RAM community will be, initially, offered to ASU students during the Fall 2007 semester. The Fundamentals of Public Speaking class will be taught by Dr. Florence Lyons on MWF 10:00-10:50a.m. The Music Appreciation class will be taught by Mr. Michael Decuir MWF 1:00-1:50 p.m. |
