The Visual Fine Arts Learning Community is an integrated program of study for Fine Arts majors. Within this community, the students gain a better understanding of issues in contemporary art and professional practices through travel and workshops. Students will participate in events that enrich their studies and foster multi-disciplinary, group learning, as well. The learning community enhances and integrates existing curriculum through communal activity as students think and work together outside the classroom.
The students who will participate in the Visual Fine Arts Learning Community are Fine Arts Majors working towards their Bachelors of Art Degree here at Albany State University. The Fine Arts Majors that will participate will be admitted through an established portfolio review process. The Learning Community will include a diverse group of students, including upper and under classmen. The inclusive nature of this community will increase the natural process of mentoring and broaden influences through communication.
The structure of the Visual Fine Arts Learning Community consists of workshops, tours of museums and commercial galleries, study groups, guest artist lectures, visits to working artists' studios, studio events, and career exploration inside and outside the academic institution.
