Rickey Alexander Assistant Head Coach/Linebackers Alma Mater: Albany State College, '81 E-mail: rickey.alexander@asurams.edu Office Phone: 229-430-4757Rickey Alexander is in his 22nd season as an assistant coach with the Albany State University Golden Rams. With more than 26 years of coaching experience, Alexander currently coaches the Golden Rams defensive backs. During the 2000 and 2001 seasons, he served as offensive coordinator under head coach James “Mike” White.
A former Albany State starting quarterback, Alexander coached under the legendary Coach Hampton “Hamp” Smith for 15 seasons. From 1996 through 1999, Alexander served as offensive coordinator, directing Coach Smith’s “Option Attack.” During that time, the Golden Rams compiled an impressive 34-7 record and a 10-0 undefeated season in 1997. The Golden Rams also won two SIAC championships and made appearances in the NCAA Division II playoffs in 1996 and 1997.
Alexander was instrumental in leading the Golden Rams offense to its first NCAA playoff victory, defeating the Southern Arkansas Muleriders 10-7 in 1997. The following weekend, the Rams played in their first quarterfinal round of the NCAA Tournament, losing to Carson Newman College, 22-23, in the final seconds of the game.
A 1981 graduate of Albany State, Alexander earned his master’s degree in Education in 1997 from his alma mater. He is married to Adele Alexander.

Donald Pittman joined the Golden Rams football coaching staff in June 2002.
Pittman came to Albany State from Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas, where he served as the Indians’ offensive coordinator for two and a half years.
Prior to joining the MWSU staff, Pittman was the offensive coordinator for three years with the Texas A&M University Javelinas football program. He was runningbacks coach for 15 years before landing the offensive coordinator position.
Before joining TAMU, Pittman coached at several high schools in Las Vegas and won Nevada’s Coach of the Year honors in 1980.
A 1974 graduate of Adams State University, Pittman received his Master’s degree in Counseling in 1980 from Texas A&M University. He is married to the former Rhonda Hughes of Corpus Christi, Texas.
