Dr. Marcia Mitchell Hood joined the Albany State University faculty in the fall of 2004 as Director of Choral Activities and professor of Music Education. Dr. Hood is the conductor of the ASU Concert Chorale and the ASU Chamber Singers. Hood holds degrees from the University of Alabama in Piano Performance, Music Education, and Choral Conducting with a minor in Music History. Her performing interests combine the three disciplines: singing professionally, serving as Director of Choral Activities, and performing classical piano literature. Hood has gained a reputation as an oratorio artist, both as a soloists and conductor. However, her skills have established her as a passionate solo pianist, specializing in Baroque keyboard works. In addition, Dr. Hood serves as Coordinator of Choral Activities of the Albany Symphony as well as the principle keyboardist of the orchestra. | | |
