Laboratory Facility

An Engineering Laboratory was established in 2001, a first for  Albany State University, from a multi-year grant from U.S. Department of Education's Minority Science and Engineering Improvement Program.  A number of  contemporary computer controlled manufacturing and testing equipment was acquired from that initial funding. Also obtained was a set of programmable robots from a grant from Georgia Space Grant Consortium. Subsequently, a metallurgical microscope, heat treatment oven, grinding/polishing machine,  couple of 3D Scanner and reverse engineering software added.

  1. Flotek 1440 Wind Tunnel

  2. PC Turn 55 Computer Numerically Controlled Lathe

  3. Universal Testing Machine

  4. Rapid Prototyping Machine - 3D Printer

  5. Lego-Mindstorm Robots

  6. Axiovert Metallurgical Microscope

  7. 3 D Scanners and RapidWorks reverse engineering software

The availability of the above equipment for class room demonstration and experimentation as well as conducting students' research project has placed Albany State University's engineering program as a leader among the comparable liberal arts universities in the state of Georgia.
