With the theme: #TruthToPower the Women’s Symposium features paper presentations and panels that focus on gender studies issues.
Albany State University students, faculty, staff and the community are encouraged to submit papers, multimedia presentations, reading and panels for the Symposium.
Submissions are required to focus on women/gender studies. Submit a typed 250 word abstract of a 15 minutes max proposal in Microsoft Word document format electronically, or submit a hard copy to Dr. Devona Mallory, ASU Fine Arts Center, Room 326 or email email@example.com.
The deadline for submissions is March 22, 2018.
The event is put on annually by the Albany State University Gender Studies committee.
Lovett to Discuss Nursing in the Rural South and Entrepreneurship
Elizabeth Lovett is a 1974 graduate of Albany State College (University) where she received a Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing in 1974, and a Master of Science degree in Nursing in 1992. She has practiced as a nurse for most of her professional career, whether it was servicing the health needs of patients, teaching/training post-secondary students to pursue careers in the health profession, or developing programs to address the health needs of Southwest Georgia.
In 2001, she brought her talents to Albany State University. During her tenure, Lovett was responsible for securing funding and implementing programs from a multitude of sources including the National Aeronautics Space Administration (NASA), the Health Resources Services Administration, and the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation.
Today, Lovett devotes her time to her company Go with A Medical Professional and Go with A Nurses Assistant Inc. where she teaches a state approved curriculum to potential and existing nurses.
Lovett holds past and present memberships in the American Heart Association, the Southwest Georgia Cancer Coalition, the American Diabetes Association, the American Lung Association, and serves on several Nursing Advisory Boards.
