Dear Student,
On behalf of Albany State University, I would like to welcome you to the Housing and Residence Life community at Albany State University. We are excited about your future involvement in our diverse campus communities.
Housing and Residence Life is committed to promoting the total University experience by providing a supportive living environment for our residents. We strive to provide you with a safe and comfortable home away from home, with programs and services that will support your academic success and personal growth. We employ approximately 70 full-time and student staff who live and work in our communities in order to promote the success and respond to the needs of our residents.
We believe living on campus is more than just a place to sleep and eat. Studies have demonstrated that by living on campus students are more likely to earn higher grades and to persist to graduation than those who do not live on campus. A key to your success and satisfaction is involvement. We urge you to become an active member of the campus community. You can accomplish this by getting to know your neighbors, attending programs and social events, interacting with others in positive settings, getting to know the staff in the residence hall, and serving on your floor or in the Residence Hall Association.
To get the year off to a great start re-connecting and making new connections in your first few weeks.
The success of living on campus depends on the student. It is our hope that you will take an active role in helping us to help you realize your highest potential!
