The tireless pursuit of academic excellence will be rewarded Friday as Albany State University holds the annual Honors Day Convocation in the Health, Physical Education and Recreation (HPER) Gymnasium.
"On Honor’s Day we reward students for their hard work and academic success," said Dr. Ontario Wooden, event chair person and director of the Velma Fudge Grant Honors Program and Academic Success Initiatives.
Students will be recognized for achieving GPAs of 3.5 or better. Individual awards will be given from each academic department. Local organizations will also present awards and scholarships to ASU students.

The speaker chosen for this year’s convocation is Eldridge W. McMillian, who represents the Fifth Congressional District on the University System of Georgia Board of Regents.
A resident of Atlanta, McMillan is the president emeritus of the Southern Education Foundation Inc. and a scholar-in-residence at Atlanta Metropolitan College. He has devoted his career to education, and has received numerous awards and honors for his service to education and the community. |
