Living and Working in Space
Students explore dressing and traveling in space as they journey to the moon. Students conceptualize and learn the physical properties of satellites, the Moon, Sun, Planets, Earth and Solar System.
Grade One
Star Scouts
Living and Working in Space
Students explore the impact of microgravity and air pressure on human space travel. Students learn the importance of satellites, the Moon, Sun, Planets, Earth and Solar System and their relationship to each other in the universe.s
Grade Two
Comet Busters
Living and Working in Space
Students investigate the composition of asteroids, comets and meteors, and their effect on the environmental essentials for human survival in space. Students explore constellations, light and shadows, the effects of gravity and micro gravity, and the experiences of living and working in space.
Grade Three
Space Travelers
Living and Working in Space
Students explore eating and working in space as they enlist in astronaut training and construct a model for an International Space Station. Students learn the process of solid waste management and recycling in space and the properties of water in the habitat.
Grade Four
Junior Astronauts
Living and Working in Space Mission in Space
Students explore the effects of space travel on the human body and design a machine that will help astronauts perform a specific task in space. Students perform aircraft testing and weather forecasting, and explore rocket propellants, navigation and pH.
Grade Five
Moon Walkers
Exploring the Solar System[top]
Students explore the sizes, gravity factors and other physical characteristics of the planets as they construct a simulated solar system different from our own. Students study constellations, orbit, gravity, and the uses of solar power.
Grade Six
Mars Explorers
Exploring the Solar System Lost in Space
Students explore the living conditions and topographic features of Mars as they operate a remote control vehicle on a simulated Martian surface. Students explore and compare the environments of Earth, Saturn and Pluto.
Grade Seven
Young Aviators
Exploring Aeronautics The Planet Earth From Space
Students explore the concept of flight as they design and launch a hot air balloon, study weather patterns, construct a map with legends and scales for navigation, and practice radio aircraft communication. Students learn how to achieve orbit and communicate to Earth from space. Students also study Earth's position in solar system and weather from space.
Grade Eight
Pilots
Exploring Aeronautics Journey to the Red Planet
Students explore the control surfaces of conventional aircraft, study local weather conditions using sensors, use time zone and topographic maps to determine safe arrival times and altitudes, and calculate airspeed as effected by headwinds and tailwinds as they conduct a cross-country flight in virtual reality. Students explore conditions on planet Mars, motion in space and the effects of micro gravity on the human body.
Grade Nine
Space Scientists
Microgravity Water Works
Students explore the concept of microgravity as they record and analyze acceleration environments created by different motions, create a model of how astronauts orbit the Earth and determine the mass of objects using an inertial balance. Students explore various physical science concepts as they determine how the physical and chemical properties of water can affect shuttle launches, conditions in the soil, pollution, and purification.
Grade Ten
Researchers
Microgravity
Students further explore the concept of microgravity as they record and analyze candle flame properties in freefall and use vibrating platforms to simulate the motion of atoms as a solid material is heated. Student explore the effect of microgravity on the biological processes of the cardiovascular, musculoskeletal, and nervous (senses and brain) systems in the human body.
