Application and deposit deadline is February 11, 2009.

This 29-day study abroad program will include Pretoria, Johannesburg, and Cape Town.

Curriculum: Two academic credit-bearing courses worth 3 credit hours each will be offered during this program. CRJU 3300 - Comparative International Legal Systems and POLS 3200 - Politics, Law and Society in Africa, will be taught by Alban y State a nd/or other USG University professors. Classes will be held at selected centers including the campuses of South African universities.  Both classes will be taught in English and all students are required to enroll in both courses. ASU students can earn resident credit, and non-ASU students can earn transfer credits. Tentative Excursions/Site Visits: Historical and geographical tours of Pretoria, Soweto (Johannesburg), and Cape Town; Homes of Pres. Nelson Mandela, Archbishop Desmond Tutu; Parliament; Church Square; Robben Island; Slave Lodge; Lesedi Cultural Village; and Voortrekker Monument. Housing: Students will live in hotels or Bed and Breakfasts in both Pretoria and Cape Town, with a possible overnight homestay in Soweto.

$4,875.00 Price includes round-trip airfare between Tallahassee or Atlanta and South Africa (including shuttle service between Albany and Tallahassee or Atlanta), hotel accommodations including breakfast, insurance, in-country travel and most ground transportation, excursions, site visits and entrance fees. Price does not include tuition, lunch and dinner meals, but program costs may be covered by various student Financial Aid including the PELL grant, student loans and the HOPE scholarship. PROGRAM FEE IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE PRIOR TO ACTUAL DEPARTURE.

This Study Abroad Program is only open to all eligible and approved undergraduate students only(ASU or non-ASU), in or out of Georgia!
