THE DEPARTMENT OF SOCIAL WORK
"Expanding the Art and the Heart of Social Work"
Welcome to the Department of Social Work
Welcome to ASU’s Department of Social Work’s website! The Department is housed in the College of Arts and Humanities with a Baccalaureate and Master of Social Work Program. The initial accreditation of the BSW Program occurred in 2003, and was reaffirmed in 2007 by the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE). The growth and development in Social Work has been a journey of commitment and fortitude by ASU’s administration, the social work faculty, staff, and supporting offices. Our expansion has yielded an extension of the undergraduate program to South Georgia State College, and the development of a Clinical Master of Social Work Program, which received candidacy status in 2012 by CSWE. Today the Department graduates both bachelor and master level students in Social Work who have gained employment in the fields of Child Welfare, Veteran Services, Hospital Settings, Non-profit Agencies and School Settings. Some of our students have also gone into entrepreneurial endeavors.
You are invited to peruse the website to locate much of the information needed with regard to our mission, faculty, curriculum, admission process, accreditation from the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE), student supports, research, community partnerships, and much more, for both the Bachelor and Master of Social Work Programs.
