Welcome to SOAR! (Student Orientation, Advising & Registration)

To the new Albany State University Golden Ram,

Congratulations on your acceptance to the "Unsinkable" Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams Family!  We are working diligently to prepare for your arrival to campus. It is my pleasure to provide you with information regarding the Student Orientation, Advising and Registration (SOAR) orientation.

The first step in making your experience at ASU a rewarding one is to participate in the SOAR orientation to assist with your transition to ASU. The SOAR orientation is designed to prepare students for their first semester and subsequent years at Albany State University. You will learn important information about the university and all of the services in place to promote your academic success. We assist you with information for accessing important student support services, registration, advising, financial aid, as well as guidance.  The SOAR program is mandatory for all newly admitted students.

The SOAR orientation is a one (1) day experience.  The cost of the SOAR orientation is $50.00, and includes your meals, and orientation materials. The University's President, Dr. Everette J. Freeman, has established a campus wide initiative for students to obtain a US Passport, so that ASU students will possess a basic tool required to become productive citizens of today's global community. The passport fee is $150.00. The total orientation fee with passport is $200.00 ($150.00 for the passport plus $50.00 SOAR fee.) If you already have a passport, your orientation fee is only $50.00.

For parents and guests, we offer SOAR Too. SOAR Too is a one (1) day workshop, that gives parents and guests the opportunity to receive valuable information and ask questions that will enable them to assist you in your transition into college life. SOAR Too is $35 per person and includes lunch and orientation materials.

Your SOAR orientation and SOAR Too payments can be paid on site or it can be paid by mail by sending a personal check, cashier's check, or money order made payable to Albany State University.  Be sure to write "SOAR", your RAM ID number, and your full name on the personal check, cashier's check, or money order and mail to:
