2018 Academy of Future Teachers (AFT)

A Three week summer STEM program for high school students on the campus of Albany State University

June 4, 2018-June, 22, 2018 8:00 – 12:00 Monday-Thursday

The Academy of Future Teachers- Albany (AFT-Albany) provides STEM-based academic enrichment to prospective STEM teachers enrolled in area high schools. In a three-week summer program, high school participants engage in STEM-based teaching and learning experiences to strengthen content knowledge and develop basic pedagogical skills. Content-area experts in specific STEM disciplines (science, math, and technology) serve as Lead Teachers who can relate STEM concepts to real-world contexts. Their instructional goals are consistent with the aims of the overall program, which are to strengthen content knowledge and introduce core pedagogical principles of STEM learning (such as inquiry, investigation, and application to real-world contexts).

ASU ATF Students

Each week of the program will target a specific STEM discipline (science, math, and technology) and feature a field trip to apply content knowledge to real-world contexts. The program will culminate with a digital presentation of knowledge and skills.
