What is a Bookslip?

A bookslip is an advance on your financial aid that allows you to purchase books and/or supplies at the ASU Bookstore. Bookslips are available by request only to students who have registered for classes, have authorized financial aid, and have excess funds available after paying tuition and fees..

How do I qualify for a Bookslip?

You must meet ALL of the following criteria:

  1. Enrolled as an Undergraduate or Graduate student
  2. Registered at least half-time for the current semester:
    • 6 credits or more-undergraduate
    • 3 credits or more-graduate
  3. Submitted all Financial Aid requirements and have excess authorized aid with an expected refund of at least $100.00.

How do I confirm the amount available to request?

  1. Login Banner Web.
  2. Click Student & Financial Aid
  3. Click Student Account Information
  4. Click Account Detail for Term
  5. Select the current term and Submit
  6. Scroll to the bottom of the page, the amount listed next to Current Due net of Authorized Financial Aid is the amount that you have available for a bookslip. If the amount does not have a negative sign (-) before the dollar amount, you do not qualify for a bookslip.

How do I apply for a Bookslip?

  1. Go to http://www.asurams.edu.
  2. Highlight About ASU -> Offices and click on Fiscal Affairs.
  3. From the Fiscal Affairs, click Fall Bookslip 2015 on the left of the screen.
  4. Fill out all fields of the request form.
  5. Make sure you include your Ram ID#.
    *If the RamID provided is incorrect, it will result in your request being denied.
  6. Make sure you include a valid e-mail address.
    *The e-mail address will be used as communicating the approval and/or denial of your bookslip request.
  7. Select Send.
  8. Please submit your request only once.
    *If you do not receive an error message, your request has gone through successfully. Duplicate request will result in duplicate bookslip charges on your account.

How much can I receive?

The amount depends on how much you have available in financial aid funding after your charges have been paid. This includes tuition, fees, and university housing (room and board). The minimum amount to request is $100.00 and the maximum request is $750.00.

REMINDER: Adding/dropping courses, may impact the funds available for a bookslip. If an adjustment is made, the student is responsible for all bookslip charges.

How will I know if my Bookslip request is approved?

Once your request is approved you will receive an e-mail stating that the request has been approved and the specified amount it was approved for (it is important that you include a valid e-mail address on the Bookslip Request Form). The funds will be available and ready for use once the e-mail is received. You are only allowed to spend up to the approved amount, any charges in excess of the approved amount is the student’s responsibility. Please allow at least 24 hours from the date of the request for processing.

Do I have to spend it all at once?

No. You can make several purchases at the bookstore up until the expiration date or until you have spent the full amount of your request, whichever comes first.

What if I don’t spend the full amount of my bookslip request?

If you do not use the full amount of the request, your account will be adjusted to reflect your actual purchases. You will be issued a financial aid refund for the remaining unused amount.

When is the last day to use the bookslip in the Bookstore?

The Fall 2015 deadline to use bookslip funds is August 28, 2015.
Changes to the last day of use in the Bookstore will result in delays in bookslip refunds.

Can I cancel a bookslip request that I submitted?

Bookslips are done by request only; therefore cancellations will not be honored unless a student withdraws for the term and has not used any of the bookslip. Duplicate requests will be processed if funds support the request.

If you received an e-mail indicating that your bookslip request was denied…

Check your Student Account Detail by Term in BannerWeb to review your student account balance. If you’ve made any changes to your registration, university housing charges or your student account balance exceeds the amount of financial aid you are scheduled to receive, you do not qualify for a bookslip.

Also, check your financial aid awards. Changes to your financial aid that result in funds being reduced or removed will affect the amount of your bookslip request. Speak with the Financial Aid Office, if changes have been made to your financial aid awards.

Remember, the bookslip request is an advance on your excess financial aid refund.

If you received an e-mail indicating that your bookslip request was approved but for a lesser amount…

Check your Student Account Summary Page of BannerWeb to review your student account balance. If you’ve made any changes to your registration, university housing charges or your student account balance exceeds the amount of financial aid you are scheduled to receive, you may no longer qualify for the initial amount you were offered.

Also, check your financial aid awards. Changes to your financial aid that result in funds being reduced or removed will affect the amount of your bookslip. Bookslip purchases made before changes in your award package or fee assessment may result in a balance on your student account. Speak with a financial aid representative if changes have been made to your financial aid awards.
