A vital component of a successful educational career is the relationship between a student and his/her advisor. At Albany State University, every entering freshman is given an academic advisor during New Student Orientation and will meet with them regularly throughout the semester. As advisors, counselors, and mentors:
- We help students to understand how to complete their degree programs and graduate.
- We are a part of an integrated campus service system that supports students (academically, socially, and personally).
- We recognize the students’ role in the success of ASU and approach them with a spirit of respect. In the Academic Advising and Retention Center, students receive guidance on their Program of Study. As well, they are provided training in planning, critical thinking, and study strategies.
