What is Title IX?
Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (20 U.S.C. § 1681) provides that no person shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied benefits, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving federal financial assistance.
The Compliance Officer/Title IX Coordinator oversees the school’s response to reports and complaints identifying and addressing any patterns or systemic problems revealed by reports and/or complaints about sexual discrimination. Sexual discrimination includes, but is not limited to, sexual harassment and acts of sexual violence such as sexual assault, sexual battery and sexual exploitation. Additionally, the Compliance Officer/Title IX Coordinator provides training, conducts investigations, as well as determines interim and remedial measures as appropriate for a reporting student.
