DIPLOMAS ARE NOT PRESENTED AT COMMENCEMENT. The student will receive a diploma cover at the ceremony. Following certification of completion of all requirements, the diploma will be ordered and, when received, mailed to the address specified on the Application for Degree Evaluation and Graduation. Please make sure your mailing address in BANNER is correct by reviewing your Graduation Application in Banner. This is the address to which we will mail the diploma.
Although we make every effort to ensure that addresses are correct and diplomas are mailed in a timely fashion, we cannot be responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged diplomas once we mail them from ASU. This normally takes six (6) to eight (8) weeks after the commencement ceremony. All financial obligations to the university must be cleared before it can be mailed.
Although rare, it is possible for a department on campus to levy a charge or fine against a degree candidate after the graduation clearance has been completed. Examples of appropriate fines/charges include (but are not limited to) dorm damage charges, parking tickets, and library fines. A degree candidate who has a balance or a hold will not receive a transcript or diploma until the appropriate department removes the hold, the charge/fine is resolved, and the Office of Academic Services and Registrar is notified.
Although we exert every effort to ensure that diplomas are correct, students should review the diploma carefully and advise our office immediately of any discrepancies.
NOTE: Requests submitted for a name change must be completed four weeks prior to commencement. Please ensure the name on the graduation list is the name you want displayed on your diploma. There is a charge to order another diploma for errors not due to University error ($30.00 for the bachelor’s and $40.00 for the specialist and master’s degrees).
