Welcome New Golden Rams! Congratulations on your acceptance to Albany State University! The first step in making your experience at ASU a rewarding one is to participate in the New Student Orientation Program (NSOP), a mandatory program for all incoming students and transfers to assist with your transition to ASU. You will learn important information about the university and all services we provide to promote your academic success, including Academic Advising, Career Services, Financial Aid, Student Activities and Housing. (Please confirm your acceptance before registering for Orientation. The Orientation fee is non-refundable). We also offer Parent Orientation which gives families of incoming students an opportunity to interact with campus administrators and receive vital information to support their New Rams toward success.

Find Your RAM ID

Your RAM ID is generated once you are accepted to Albany State University. You can go to Banner Web to retrieve your RAM ID. The RAM ID is used as a unique identifier for the campus community members.

Test Your Network ID

Your Network ID is used to access campus computers, email, and more. Go to http://www.asurams.edu and click on myASU Menu. Login with your Network ID and password. If you are successful, you will be logged in to the myASU portal page. If you need assistance, please contact the ITS Helpdesk at (229) 430-4909 or visit in person on the first floor of the James Pendergrast Memorial Library.

Check your ASU Student Email Account

Remember that Albany State University will send all electronic communications to your ASU e-mail address. You can sign-in to your campus email account using your Network ID and password.

Start Using Banner Web

This online system is used to access your courses.  It also provides you with an easy and secure method of accessing your Bosscars vehicle registration. Click here to access Banner Web.

Connecting to Campus Wifi

If your device has both a WIRED and a WIRELESS connection, you will need to register BOTH connections separately.  You will be asked to register your device the first time you connect to a wired connection AND the first time you connect to a wireless connection.

  1. Select ‘Airram-Onboard’ from your list of available wireless networks.
  2. Register your device by signing in using your ASU Username and Password.
  3. Download generated wireless profile
  4. Select the Play Store to download the profile.
  5. Click to install Packet Fence Agent
  6. Select Configure to finish installation of PacketFence Agent.
  7. Return to Wifi settings and select and hold “Asurams-Secure,” and select modify network, you will be prompted to sign on using your ASU Identity (Username) and Password.
  8. Once you enter your username and password, you will be granted access to the Network

To register Gaming Systems, Smart TV, Firestick, Roku, etc.

After doing so, you will then connect the device to the ‘OTHER’ network.

The New Student Orientation staff has put together a list of things that you should bring when you pack for your NSOP session.  Remember to think casual and comfortable when you are packing.  You want to be comfortable during the sessions and evening activities.  Do not bring any valuable possessions with you, because the NSOP Program is not responsible for items that are lost, stolen, or damaged

  • Comfortable clothes and shoes – you will thank us when you have to walk around campus!
