Statement from President Fedrick Regarding October 21, 2020 Off-Campus Incident

Statement from President Fedrick Regarding October 21, 2020 Off-Campus Incident

Albany State University (ASU) students, many of you are aware of the incident that occurred last night at an off-campus private apartment complex. The incident has been shared widely on social media and it depicts the harassment and dehumanization of an individual. Let me be clear, it is never appropriate to take such actions, no matter the situation.

ASU does not condone and will not tolerate the harassment of any individual. These despicable acts are being investigated by the ASU and City of Albany Police Departments.

Whether you are an ASU student or not, if you were involved in last night’s actions, you were disrespectful to yourself, your families, our community, and Albany State University.

If ASU students participated in such actions, you will be held accountable in accordance with the student code of conduct and all applicable laws. This is not the behavior that I expect or will accept from those who call themselves Golden Rams.

It is the responsibility of anyone with information about this incident to inform Dr. Terry Lindsay, Vice President for Student Affairs, ASU’s Chief of Police, Gregory Elder or submit information online via our general complaint form; which has the option of anonymous submission.
