ADVANCE ACADEMICS THROUGH ADVISING AND RETENTION
This activity funds the Academic Advising and Retention Center (AARC) for that includes the University’s Retention Office, the First and Second Year Experience Program, the Athletic Coordinator and the Advisement Center. This Center will place greater emphasis on the persistence and progress of all students. The goals of the AARC will support the Albany State University Graduation Improvement Plan (GRIP) submitted to the University System of Georgia. They include: (1) re-evaluate and improve the academic advising and retention activities; (2) help students make smooth transitions through their freshman and sophomore years; and, (3) improve retention and graduation rates and (4) provide support to the student-athlete that will increase this cohort’s graduation and retention rates. It also supports the state of Georgia participation in Compete College America by emphasizing activities such as supplemental instruction and helping students to make appropriate academic and career choices.
