Welcome from the Provost

It is my pleasure to welcome you to the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Albany State University (ASU) where potential is realized.  I am privileged to provide leadership to one of the University System of Georgia’s premiere educational institutions.  For more than 100 years ASU has served the educational needs of Southwest Georgia, the State, the region and the nation by providing a top quality educational experience for students.  As we navigate the challenges facing higher education in the 21st century by seeking solutions to the issues of access, affordability, accountability, performance, efficient resource utilization and providing evidence that student learning outcomes are achieved, I am enthusiastic about our future success in so doing. The extraordinary caliber of our faculty, the excellence exhibited by our students, the loyal commitment of our alumnus, the acumen and visionary leadership of our staff and administrators provide a combined powerful force for moving ASU forward.

ASU through its four (4) colleges; the College of Arts and Humanities, the College of Business, the College of Education, and the College of Sciences and Health Professions, offers 36 undergraduate and 16 graduate degree programs. These programs are supported by an array of administrative units focusing on student success, enrollment management, research and sponsored programs, military science, internationalization, instructional technology, institutional research, effectiveness and assessment and access to state of the art library resources and facilities.

Our overarching goal is to provide an educational environment where the search for solutions to real world problems, the quest for life-long learning, the respect and value of diversity and the standard of on-going quality improvement serve as the benchmark for all that we do at ASU. I encourage you to explore other parts of the ASU website and to share with us any questions you may have about the University, its programs, resources or services.

Sincerely,

Beverly Edmond, Ph.D.
Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs
