FAQs: First-time Residents
Are Freshmen required to stay on campus?
Yes, first time freshmen or freshmen that have not accumulated 30 GPA credit hours must reside on campus until they have done so.
Is there housing for first-year students?
Yes. All First Time Freshmen are required to live on-campus unless their Release Request to Commute has been approved.

Faculty and Resident Mentors, along with lots of fun and educational programs, encourage students' success and will help first-year students to REALIZE THEIR POTENTIAL.
How do I apply to live on campus?
Before applying for Housing every student must first be officially accepted to Albany State University and have received their RAM ID number.

What are the deadlines for me to apply for Housing?
June 30 – Fall Semester
November 30 – Spring Semester Updated
April 30 – Summer Semester
Can I request a particular residence hall?
All freshmen with 29 GPA credit hours or less must reside in the First Year Experience residence halls. Students that have above 30 GPA credit hours may request a particular residence hall by writing it on the application. Non-traditional freshmen are not subject to a particular residence hall.
What is provided in the room?
Every room is provided with a dresser, desk and chair, bed and mattress, a closet, mirror, telephone service, cable television services, computer data port (one per student). Furniture in most rooms is movable. Other rooms may have additional amenities depending upon residence hall type.
