NOTICE:

ALBANY STATE UNIVERSITY ONLINE WRITING CENTER

Welcome! Whether you just have a quick question or two about grammar, writing, citations, MLA/APA/Chicago styles OR you would like some one-on-one in-depth assistance with a writing assignment, the Online Writing Center is ready to assist you. Please read over this page and instructions carefully so that we are able to assist you as quickly and efficiently as possible!

LEVEL 1 ASSISTANCE - QUICK QUESTIONS

If you have a quick question or two that do NOT involve actual consultation regarding a submitted draft of your writing assignment, you can send your question in an e-mail to:

owc@asurams.edu

Please be sure to send your e-mail directly from your Albany State Office 365 e-mail account. E-mails from any other type of address (Yahoo Mail, gmail, hotmail, etc.) will be deleted without being read. PLEASE NOTE! E-mails sent from within D2L will NOT be delivered outside of the learning management system; you MUST send the e-mail from your Student Email account! (Due to limited resources, the Albany State Writing Center is only able to serve currently enrolled Albany State students. Sending your e-mail from your active school e-mail account allows us to verify your status as an Albany State student.)

All e-mails will be answered as quickly as possible. You will receive a response within 15 minutes of the time you send your e-mail if you send your e-mail during these times:

Monday - Friday
9:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Sunday
5:00 p.m. - 10:00 p.m.

(all times are EST)

You can also enter into an e-mail dialogue for further clarification of the answers to your questions, if needed.

E-mails sent at all other times will be answered within one business day.

LEVEL II ASSISTANCE - WRITING ASSIGNMENT DRAFT CRITIQUE

If you would like your rough draft reviewed and critiqued by the Writing Center staff, you may submit it to us using the form below. Once you submit the paper, please allow up to 24 hours to receive your initial critique.

It is important to note that this is NOT a proofreading service. During the initial critique, Writing Center staff will not mark your paper for errors, nor will the staff tell you specifically how to correct your paper. It is up to you to make corrections based on the advice given to you.

The initial critique will come in the form of an e-mail to you. The e-mail will contain a summary of the areas of improvement needed in your paper, along with links to online resources to assist you in improving those areas of your paper.

If you feel that you would like a live, one-on-one consultation with an Online Writing Center staff member, you may schedule an appointment for a meeting in the Writing Center Meeting Room online. Information regarding the scheduling of conferences will be included in your initial critique e-mail.

Once you are ready to submit your draft, please review the submission rules below. If the file size is too big, or if you leave one of the fields on the form empty, the submission will not go through!

NOTE: If you are submitting a paper that you have submitted within the last 30 minutes, please make a note of that in the Comments section of the submission form and whether you have changed the document or did not receive a confirmation email for your first submission.
