Commencement Spotlight: Jonathan Kelly
Bachelor of Science in Health and Human Performance
Graduate Student, Exercise Science Program, Kennesaw State University
Jonathan Kelly, a 21-year-old native of Nashville, Tennessee, will graduate on May
10 with a Bachelor’s degree in Health and Human Performance from the Albany State
University Darton College of Health Professions.
Kelly has made an impressive impact both on and off the track during his time at Albany State. A proud member of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc., he also served as an intern with the university’s strength and conditioning program, gaining valuable hands-on experience in athletic development.
Demonstrating a commitment to youth and community, Kelly co-founded Albany’s youth park and recreation track program, providing local children with access to structured physical activity and mentorship.
His athletic and academic achievements are equally noteworthy. A three-time Dean’s List honoree and two-time inductee into Chi Alpha Sigma, the National Athletic Honor Society, Kelly also earned the title of 2024 Newcomer of the Year and was named the 2025 Most Valuable Player for Albany State Track & Field. He capped off his senior year by earning First Team All-Conference honors in the 800 meters at the SIAC Championships.
This fall, Kelly will begin graduate studies at Kennesaw State University, where he plans to pursue a Master’s degree in Exercise Science.
