Albany State University Reports Enrollment Growth for Fall 2025

Albany State University (ASU) continues to advance its mission of academic excellence and student success, reporting steady enrollment for Fall 2025 and a 5.8% increase in graduate enrollment.enrollment growth

ASU’s total enrollment stands at 6,820 students, reflecting stable growth and continued strength across key academic programs. Graduate-level momentum remains a defining factor, aligning with University System of Georgia (USG) trends emphasizing advanced-degree expansion and workforce readiness.

“The enrollment story at Albany State is one of steady progress and meaningful growth,” said President Robert Scott, Ph.D. “This year’s students, both new and returning, reflect the transformative power of an Albany State education. By maintaining our focus on student-centered learning, flexible online options, and career-driven pathways, Albany State University continues to meet the needs of today’s learners while shaping the workforce of tomorrow.”

Incoming first-year students posted an impressive average GPA of 3.3, reinforcing ASU’s ability to attract and support high-achieving scholars. Undergraduate enrollment remains strong across popular majors, including Health and Human Performance, Nursing, Biology, Psychology, and Management. The Histologic Technician program emerged as the most enrolled certificate, underscoring the university’s focus on developing workforce-ready health professionals.

Graduate programs in Nursing, Counselor Education, Business Administration, and Criminal Justice remain among the most in-demand, supporting Georgia’s evolving workforce needs. Nearly 80 percent of students are enrolled in online or hybrid courses, demonstrating ASU’s commitment to flexibility and innovation in teaching and learning.

ASU students represent 40 states and 13 countries, underscoring ASU’s national and global reach and appeal. With 7.4% of total enrollment coming from border states such as Florida, Alabama, and South Carolina, the Border State Waiver, which allows eligible students to pay in-state tuition, continues to strengthen regional recruitment and accessibility.

First-time, full-time freshman retention remains strong at 77.9%, highlighting ASU’s focus on academic support, advising, and student engagement. Over the past five years, total enrollment has grown by 7.8%, evidence of the university’s resilience and strategic alignment with workforce and community needs.
