What motivated you to learn more about your field?
What motivated me to pursue my field is genuine passion for children and desire to help shape the future into a loving and positive environment. I believe meaningful change begins with children, as they will grow into the individuals who shape our world. Being around children brings me joy and offers me fresh perspectives on life that can sometimes be overshadowed by everyday challenges. They keep me grounded and give me a sense of hope.

Why did you choose ASU?
I chose Albany State University because I valued the opportunity to attend an HBCU, as well as its close proximity to home and affordability.

What do you love most about your chosen profession?
What I love most about my profession is the opportunity to interact with my students daily and be a meaningful part of their lives. I find joy in making a positive impact, watching them grow, and seeing them develop into confident and capable individuals. It is especially rewarding to know that I am giving back to my community by helping shape future generations who will contribute in meaningful ways.

Who has made the biggest impact on you, and who do you consider to be a role model at ASU?
Several individuals have made a lasting impact on me, including Dr. Sonya Mosley, Dr. Betty Graper, and Dr. Zeporia Gilmore. Each of them has encouraged and challenged me to become the best version of myself. I am deeply grateful for their guidance, and they have all served as strong role models in my journey toward becoming an educator.

What are you passionate about outside of your education?
Outside of my academic pursuits, I am passionate about strengthening my relationship with God and exploring the beauty of nature.

What advice would you give to other ASU students?
My advice to other students is to remain true to yourself, even when it may feel difficult or when you are encouraged to conform. Always give your best effort in everything you do and strive to create a life that reflects your values and goals.

What would you say to a high school student about choosing ASU to further their education?
I would encourage high school students considering ASU to become actively involved, participate in campus activities, and fully explore what the university has to offer. It is a supportive environment where you can grow, succeed, and have a meaningful college experience.
