Severe Weather Advisory and Campus Preparedness Update
Albany State University leadership is closely monitoring weather conditions and is
aware of the potential for severe cold and a possible winter storm, including a freeze
warning, expected early next week.
In preparation of possible inclement weather, faculty and staff are encouraged to
take their University-issued laptops home this weekend in the event operations transition
to virtual due to weather conditions. Supervisors and leaders are asked to ensure
that contact information for their team is available.
Prepare in Advance for Severe Weather
- To help prevent frozen or burst pipes, drip faucets 24 hours before inclement weather begins.
- Fully charge electronic devices, including phones and backup batteries.
-
Plan ahead: get up early, drive slowly, and dress warmly.
-
Continue to monitor the weather.
Additional updates will be communicated through University email, the ASU website,
official Albany State University social media accounts, and the ASU Emergency Communications
System (LiveSafe) should conditions change.
The ASU Police Department will remain available to ensure the safe operation of essential
functions. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to download the LiveSafe app for important safety updates and emergency notifications.
Thank you for your attention and for taking the necessary steps to remain safe and
prepared.
