Campus Update 8/9/21
Special Message from Dr. Lindsay Welcome Back to Campus
Dear Golden Ram Family,
Welcome back to campus for another exciting year. Whether you are a new or returning student, we are happy you are here with us at Albany State University. We hope your summer was filled with time to relax, renew and have fun with family and friends.
Whether you are a returning, freshman, or transfer student, you will find unlimited opportunities to enjoy campus life by learning, exploring, and engaging together. Your primary purpose for being at ASU is to focus on academic studies, but you are more likely to excel academically and personally when you are involved in other aspects of campus life. In addition to devoting your energies to papers, classroom lectures and exams, get involved in out-of-class campus activities. It is a great way to develop valuable leadership and career readiness skills.
As we focus on developing you as leaders of tomorrow, remember that you have a voice and there are student leaders representing your interests on campus. The Student Government Association is excited to serve as a liaison between you and the administration. From academic assistance to your daily campus needs, they are here to support you and ensure you receive the best experience possible at the UNSINKABLE Albany State University.
In order to ensure a transformative college career that prepares you for life beyond college, SGA has developed a Standard of Excellence focused on self-image-personal branding, self-management, accountability, and civility. An initiative of this Standard includes the highly anticipated return of Mogul Mondays beginning on August 16. Each week will result in a winner for the best dressed students in professional attire every Monday. Feel free to contact SGA by utilizing our virtual mailboxes located throughout campus and on social media (@ASU_SGA1903).
Those of you returning to campus will notice a few new faces in Student Affairs, and in other departments across the campus. Let us take a moment to introduce you to some of the newest members to Albany State University. We are delighted to introduce:
- Ms. Simone Bradley, Director of Counseling and Student Accessibility Services
- Dr. Julie Francis-Pettway, Interim Director of Career Services and Professional Development
- Ms. LaShaunda Parker and Ms. Kehinda Adelusi, new professional counselors in Counseling and Student Accessibility Services
