The Student Organization Success Framework is a resource designed to help student organizations pursue excellence. The Framework identifies outcomes for member development, organization operations and community engagement that can be used by any organization.

RSO LEARNING OUTCOMES 22-23
Being engaged as a student leader within Student Affairs teaches students many skills that enhance their learning experience inside the classroom. The Student Learning Outcomes developed by Student Leadership & Development will assist students in making meaning of their experience and articulating what their experience as a Registered Student Organization Executive Officer or Member has meant.
Our main goals focus on the development of student leadership skills, promotion of democratic values and the enhancement of student life. Through the assistance of student organizations, advisors and other campus resources, we aspire to:
- Develop, enhance and promote student leadership skills, professional acumen, citizenship and democratic values.
- Provide and promote enriching programs and experiences.
- Provide an avenue where students can socialize and build positive relationships.
Objective #1-Teamwork
Students will:
Demonstrate an understanding of group dynamics and effective teamwork.
Outcomes:
- Demonstrate communication skills and the ability to interrelate with others.
- Work cooperatively with others, seeking their involvement and feedback.
- Understand and practice steps of effective programming.
- Utilize personnel and financial resources appropriately.
Objective #2– Social Responsibility
Students will:
Enhance awareness and commitment towards active citizenship and social responsibility.
Outcomes:
- Recognize the contribution diversity brings to their own campus and society by engaging in activities with individuals different from themselves.
- Recognize and understand one’s own values, identity, privilege and culture.
- Participate in service/volunteer activities to understand the importance of civic engagement.
Objective #3- Professional Readiness
Students will:
Relate the skills acquired through their Engagement to their career & personal growth.
Outcomes:
- Articulate the connection between campus engagement and curricular studies on a Resume or ePortfolio.
- Set, articulate, and pursue individual and educational goals.
- Accept and complete responsibilities in a timely manner.
- Choose behaviors and environments that promote health and reduce risk.
Objective #4– Critical Thinking
Students will:
Develop critical and reflective thinking abilities.
Outcomes:
- Use complex information from a variety of sources including personal, data and observation to form a decision or opinion.
- Measure service and impact of their programs on the student body.
- Apply previously understood information and concepts to a new situation or setting.
Objective #5– Student Engagement
Students will:
Connect with the ASU campus community through Student Engagement.
Outcomes:
- Demonstrate active campus involvement.
- Discover values of the ASU Mantra-Excellence Is The Standard.
- Participate and Host activities that encourage an inclusive environment.
RSO Success Program Guide
Completion and review of the Registered Student Organization Success Program will serve as the basis for the annual recognition process for all student organizations at Albany State University.
