ROTC Scholarships Opportunities
Army ROTC has always been one of America’s leading sources of scholarships, making
awards to thousands of the highest caliber students each year. A student who goes
to college on an Army ROTC scholarship is sure to make the best out of his or her
years at school. Army ROTC offers four, three, and two year scholarships that pay
tuition and required fees. Four-year Scholarship winners that attend Fort Valley State
University receive free room and board. These scholarships can be worth as much as
$47,000 or more. They’re awarded on merit — like academic achievements, extracurricular
activities, and personal interviews. Scholarship winners receive a tax-free stipend
of $250 – $400 for each academic month plus an allowance of more than $600 for books
and other educational items. If you’re a non-scholarship student, you can still receive
the stipend and book allowance as a contracted cadet during your last two years. If
you’re selected to receive a scholarship, you will have a commitment to the Army after
completing the program. You can fulfill it by either serving part time in the Army
National Guard or Army Reserve, or full time on active duty.
Four year scholarships applicants should:
- be a U.S. citizen
- turn 17 before the scholarship would be effective; take the SAT or ACT no later than November of the year you apply
- have a minimum 920 SAT or composite 19 ACT.
- participate in leadership, extracurricular and athletic activities (a part-time job earns you substitute credit)
- be under 30 on June 30 of the year you expect to graduate.
- be a high school graduate or have an equivalent credit.
- agree to accept a commission in the U.S. Army, National Guard or U.S. Army Reserves.
