HONR 1201 Honors Foundations of College Success 2(2-0)
This course focuses on leadership development and professional role acquisition through voluntary services. It will facilitate the transition from high school to college and will focus on research techniques. Students will engage in voluntary service activities, such mentoring, and tutoring and work place experiences. Students will be required to complete a case study and provide an in depth overview and/or workable solutions

HONR 1111 Honors Humanities I (Equivalent to – ENGL 1101 English Composition I) 3(3-0)
This Honors course in Freshman English focuses on literary types, critical and interpretive writing and research. Students will be exposed to concentrated and individualized work in writing and research with emphasis on thematic or aesthetic approaches. Prerequisite: Admission to Honors Program. (Students may be eligible to take the Regents’ Test on successful completion of the course.).

HONR 1112 Honors Humanities II (Equivalent to – ENGL 1102 English Composition II) 3(3-0)
This courses emphasizes the study of literary types, critical and interpretive writing and research. It focuses on continued development of writing of argumentative, comparative, and analytical essays. The concepts of literature’s place in the humanities in relationship to other art forms will be explored. Prerequisite: Admission to Honors Program and completion of HONR 1111.

HONR 1115 Honors Fundamental Concepts and Principles of Life Science 3(3-0)
This course is an introduction to the study of the animal and plant kingdoms with emphasis on the morphological, physiological, and taxonomic relationships in these groups. Some attention is given to heredity, ecological, and evolutionary concepts. This course is for non-science majors in the Honors Program. Prerequisite: Admissions to the Honors Program.

HONR 1116 Honors Fundamental Concepts and Principles of the Physical Science 3(3-0)
An introduction to the study of the fundamental principles of chemistry and physics, this course includes such topics as atomic and molecular structure, chemical bonding, equation state, nuclear chemistry, forces and motion, heat, light, sound, electricity, magnetism, and nuclear physics. It is for non-science majors in the Honors Program. Prerequisite: Admissions to the Honors Program.

HONR 1151 Honors World History I (Equivalent to – HIST 1111 World History I) 3(3-0)
This course offers a survey of the development and diffusion of civilization from the origin of humanity/humankind in Africa and ancient times to the end of the sixteenth century. It is offered with a view of creating an understanding and appreciation for the economic, social, cultural, and political foundation of Western civilization in the ancient, medieval, and early modern periods. Prerequisites: Admission to the Honors Program.

HONR 1152 Honors World History II (Equivalent to – HIST 1112 World History II) 3(3-0)
This course continues HONR 1151and examines events from the early modern period to the present time. Prerequisites: Admission to the Honors Program and completion of HONR1151.

HONR 1161 Honors American Government (Equivalent to – POLS 1101 U.S. & GA Government) 3(3-0)
This is an introductory course. HONR 1161 covers the essentials of government in the United States. This course gives some attention to the United States history and the Constitution. Prerequisite: Admission to Honors Program.

HONR 1171 Honors Man in Society (Allied to General Psychology and Introduction to Sociology) 3(3-0)
This course is an introduction to the concepts, assumptions, principles and methods used to study human beings as social organisms. This course also includes the study of the basic principles and methods of psychology and social behavioral science and the study of major economic problems and policy alternatives available to their solution. Prerequisite: Admission to the Honors Program.

HONR 2111 Honors Humanities III (Equivalent to - ENGL 2111 World Literature I) 3(3-0)

This course is a critical and analytical study of humanity’s/humankind’s world achievements (literature, art and music) in the Western World from the Renaissance to the present. Prerequisites: Admission to the Honors Program and completion of HONR 1112.

HONR 2112 Honors Humanities IV (Equivalent to - ENGL 2112 World Literature II) 3(3-0)
A study of the contemporary literature, art and music, this course places an emphasis on both western and non-Western cultures. Prerequisite: Admission to the Honors Program and completion of HONR 2111.

HONR 2151 Honors Directed Independent Study 3(3-0)
This course provides an opportunity for students to pursue special areas in specific fields. Approval of faculty member, department chair, and Honors Program director required. A student may enroll for no more than nine hours of course work through the Honors Directed Independent Study. Prerequisite: Completion of nine credit hours of honors program courses.

HONR 2152 Honors Contracting 3(3-0)
This course provides an opportunity to pursue areas related to career goals and research interests. Course Credit will be determined by supervising faculty, department chair and Honors Program director. A student may earn no more than six hours of contracted credits. Prerequisites: Completion of nine credit hours of honors courses.
