Training modules are being developed and will be available in GaVIEW.

The modules address (1) Teaching and Learning, (2) The Nature of the Learner, (3) Service, and (4) Research and Theoretical Foundations.

  • Each module contains specific professional development activities.
  • Faculty members from ASU have developed the modules.

New Faculty will be assigned specific modules that are aligned to the goals of NFOP.

New Faculty Orientation workshops are planned by semester for new full-time faculty hires.

The workshops address the following:

  • Overviews of the processes and procedures
  • Preparing for teaching (syllabi, student learning outcomes and assessments, project-based instruction)
  • Differentiating instruction to meet the needs of all learners
  • Developing and implementing alternative assessment strategies
  • Mentoring support
  • Using technology to engage students
  • Participating in Peer Observations
  • And other support

Promotion and Tenure workshops are scheduled a minimum of twice a year (Fall and Summer).

The workshops focus on the overview of the P & T process and developing a Portfolio (please note: plans are underway to have an electronic portfolio).

Faculty Development Workshops/Webinars are held at least twice each semester. All faculty members are encouraged to attend.

Workshop topics may be in a webinar format or face-to-face format.

Workshops include a broad range of topics to help renew and assist faculty in their multiple academic roles. The activities are designed to improve the knowledge and skills essential to their performance as educators, and to assist faculty members in gaining a better understanding of academic career development.

Workshops are scheduled throughout the academic year and announced through Academic Affairs to faculty, Chairs, and Deans.

The workshops are generally one hour in length and are held at various locations on each campus.

Previous workshops are being recorded and will be archived in the Global Training in GaVIEW. This provides the faculty the opportunity to revisit workshops.
