Albany State University (ASU) welcomed eighty-nine charter members into the new Alpha Lambda Delta (ALD) chapter during an induction ceremony on Wednesday, March 13.

Alpha Lambda Delta is a certified national honor society that recognizes academic excellence during the first year at a college or university. Members of the society are provided with access to various opportunities such as exclusive scholarships, leadership development training, career mentorship and more. This society is brought to the University through the collaborative efforts of Enrollment Management & Student Success and Academic Affairs.

"We are proud to provide yet another layer of support and guidance at ASU for first-year students" said Dr. Kimberly Burgess, Executive Director of Student Success. "Through Alpha Lambda Delta, students will be able to use the momentum and pride of a great first start to push them toward graduation. We look forward to seeing how well these students thrive here.”

Alongside ASU President Marion Ross Fedrick, six additional University administrators and staff members also received an honorary induction into the society.

ASU student, Makayla Lane said, “It is a great feeling to be acknowledged for all the hard work that we have done as freshmen. Knowing that none of it was done in vain and we have the support that we need to move forward is very special to me.”
