Albany State University Releases 2024 Homecoming Date and Football Schedule

football schedule revision

The Albany State University (ASU) Golden Rams football team, led by second-year Head Coach Quinn Gray, is excited to announce their 2024 football schedule. The team is scheduled to play ten regular season football games, including the highly anticipated Fountain City Classic. Fans can mark their calendars for the Homecoming game on Saturday, October 19.

"We're excited to unveil the 2024 football schedule, taking full advantage of the new NCAA Week Zero legislation to secure a bye week before conference play begins. This strategic scheduling aligns perfectly with our goal of building on last year's season's momentum, culminating in a berth in the SIAC championship game. We are committed to #CreatingLegacies and continuing to #MoveTheNeedle for our program under the direction of head coach Quinn Gray," said Director of Athletics, Dr. Kristene Kelly.

“We're excited about 2024 and having the opportunity to #MoveTheNeedle,” said Head Football Coach, Quinn Gray, Sr.

Thanks to the recently approved NCAA Week Zero legislation, the Golden Rams will open the season on the road against Valdosta State University on Saturday, August 31, in Valdosta, Georgia.

The team will play its home opener against Shaw University in the ASU Coliseum on Thursday, September 7. This will be the first meeting between the two schools since 2008, when the Golden Rams defeated the Bears 27-10 on the road.

Following a bye week, the Golden Rams will travel to Wilberforce, Ohio, where they will take on Central State University on Saturday, September 21.

Following the road trip to Ohio, ASU will return home to host the Thorobreds of Kentucky State University on Saturday, September 28.

The following two games will be on the road when the team travels to Columbia, South Carolina, on October 5 against Allen University, and October 12 in Fairfield, Alabama, against Miles College.

The 2024 Homecoming game will be played against Morehouse College at the ASU Coliseum on Saturday, October 19. 2024 Homecoming Save the Date

On Saturday, October 26, the Golden Rams will host Edward Waters College in the ASU Coliseum for the last home game of the season.

On Saturday, November 2, the team will play Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia.

The regular season concludes with the 34th Fountain City Classic versus Fort Valley State University at the A.J. McClung Memorial Stadium in Columbus, Georgia. Last season, the Golden Rams won the Classic 13-7, securing their place in the SIAC Football Championship.

Ticket and game day information will be announced at a later date. Mark your calendars, get your tickets, and get ready to show your support for the ASU Golden Rams. Let's make this season one to remember!
