The Faculty Senate
The Faculty Senate serves as a cornerstone of academic leadership and collaborative decision-making within the institution. As an elected representative body, it provides a formal structure through which faculty participate meaningfully in shaping the academic and institutional direction of the college.
A strong tradition of shared governance is fundamental to the excellence of any institution of higher learning. It ensures that all stakeholders, especially the faculty, have a voice in the policies and decisions that influence the academic mission. Shared governance is built on the principle that the quality and integrity of academic programs are best supported when faculty expertise guides institutional planning.
The purpose of the Faculty Senate is to ensure that faculty have an effective and organized means of advising on academic policy and institutional governance. This includes key areas such as curricula, degree requirements, instructional standards, and grading criteria. Through its elected membership, the Faculty Senate upholds the highest standards of academic excellence and ensures that faculty perspectives remain central to the institution’s decision-making processes.
