Daily Crime Log

The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act, commonly known as the Clery Act, is a federal statute aimed at promoting campus safety and transparency regarding crime statistics on college and university campuses. It is codified at 20 U.S.C. § 1092(f) in the United States Code and has implementing regulations in the Code of Federal Regulations at 34 CFR 668.46.

Albany State University is committed to providing a safe and secure environment for all members of its community. In accordance with the Clery Act, we publish statistical information regarding criminal or alleged criminal activity that is reported to the University and surrounding agencies, the arrest and referrals for disciplinary action statistics, on campus residential fire statistics, and the Annual Security and FIre Safety Report.

Albany State University Police Department maintains the Daily Crime Log. The Daily Crime Log contains ongoing disclosures of criminal incidents, alleged criminal incidents, and fire incidents that have been reported to the Albany State University Police Department. Crimes included on the crime log are those that occurred on campus, in or on non-campus buildings or property, public property within the campus or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus, and reports of crimes that occurred and are reported within ASU PD’s patrol jurisdiction. The log contains the following information with regard to each alleged incident:

  • Nature of the crime
  • Date the crime was reported
  • Date and time the crime allegedly occurred
  • General Location of the crime
  • Disposition of the complaint

The Daily Crime Log is open to public inspection and updated within two business days of receiving a report of a crime. It does not contain any identifying information about persons involved in an incident. Records are retained for 7 years. To request a physical copy of the daily crime log contact the Clery Coordinator by email at Sammi.Yarbrough@asurams.edu.

Please Note: Updates to the disposition of a criminal incident will be made up to 60 days after the incident is recorded as an entry in the log. Albany State University Police Department may withhold information otherwise required by the Clery Act from the Log if there is clear and convincing evidence that the release of the particular information would do one of the following:

  • Jeopardize an ongoing criminal investigation or the safety of an individual
  • Cause a suspect to flee or evade detection
