The U.S. Department of Labor and the Bureau of Labor Statistics project the growth rate for Diagnostic Medical Sonographers to increase by about 24% between the years 2014 and 2024. This rate is much faster than average when compared to the projected growth rate for other occupations. As imaging technology evolves, medical facilities will continue to use ultrasound to replace more invasive, costly procedures. The median annual wage of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers was $69,650 in May of 2016.
