Campus Bookstore
The University Bookstore is currently contracted with Follett Higher Education Group, LLC to provide operational oversight.
The two main goals of ASU and Follett's on-site partnership are to ensure efficient bookstore operations and to provide exceptional service and product offerings that meet the needs of the university community.
Students are strongly encouraged to order textbooks and supplies online each semester. The bookstore is now open for online orders of textbooks, supplies and merchandise, with the option to have items shipped to your home address or picked up in person at the East Campus Bookstore.

Follett ACCESS Program
What is Follett ACCESS? The Follett ACCESS Program makes it easier and more affordable for students to get their course materials. When a faculty member enrolls their course in the program, all required textbooks and materials are automatically provided to students on or before the first day of class at a significantly reduced cost. Instead of purchasing materials separately, the price is bundled with tuition or course fees, helping students save money and avoid last-minute stress.
Materials are most often delivered digitally through the university’s learning management system (LMS), though some may be provided in print. Students are free to opt out if they choose. By ensuring that every student has the right resources from day one, ACCESS supports affordability, convenience, and student success while preserving faculty choice in selecting materials.
What to Expect if Your Class is in the Follett ACCESS Program
1. Check Your Syllabus If a course is enrolled in the ACCESS Program, you’ll be notified via the course syllabus and your materials will be provisioned by the publisher before the semester begins.
2. Get Your Materials Automatically All required course materials will be provided to you—usually in digital format, sent to your ASU student email address. Some classes may also include printed textbooks or other items.
3. First-Day Access You’ll have your materials on or before the first day of class, so you can start learning right away without worrying about delays.
4. Charges Applied After Add/Drop The cost of your materials will automatically be added to your student Banner account. If you have sufficient financial aid, it can be applied toward the fee. Charges are not posted until after the add/drop period, giving you time to review and decide whether to remain in the program, opt out, or make changes to your schedule.
5. Option to Opt Out If you don’t want to participate, you can opt out before the add/drop deadline. If you opt out, you’ll be responsible for securing your course materials on your own. Once the opt-out deadline passes, you will be responsible for paying the cost of the material.
6. Enjoy the Savings Students typically save money compared to buying new textbooks individually—and you avoid the stress of tracking down the right materials.
Refund Policy
Textbook returns are accepted within seven(7) days of the original purchase date, provided the item is in the same condition as when sold. Returns made after the seven-day grace period require verification of a course drop/add or withdrawal, which must be presented to the bookstore prior to processing the return. Please note that all access codes and loose-leaf books/bundles are non-refundable once opened or used.
Financial Aid
The period during which students may charge books for each semester is limited and varies from semester to semester. Students must follow deadlines and charging limits posted by the Financial Aid Department or the University Bookstore.
The amount available for charging items to financial aid is based on an individual student's eligibility and the number of eligible credit hours students are enrolled in during a semester.
Students who do not meet Satisfactory Academic Progress standards may not charge books to their financial aid.
Fall Term: On August 6, 2025, the financial aid will be disbursed to student accounts and available for use when ordering textbooks and supplies. The last date to use financial aid fall semester to purchase items in the bookstore is September 10, 2025.
B Term: On October 6, 2025, the financial aid will be disbursed to student accounts and available for use when ordering textbooks and supplies. The last date to use financial aid fall semester to purchase items in the bookstore is November 7, 2025.
- Students using financial aid in the University Bookstores may purchase only required books and supplies that correlate with registered courses for the term. Such items may include laptops, tablets, cameras, scientific calculators, uniforms, lab kits, test review materials, and tools if these are deemed required by an instructor of the class or program director.
- Electronic items: Students may purchase course-related computers or electronic items no more than once each academic year without approval by Financial Aid Director or designee. Rare exceptions to this policy may be made by the university's Director of Financial Aid.
- Items not approved for purchase with financial aid include, but are not limited to, apparel, food, cell phones, household or gift items, and gift/prepaid cards.
- During the book purchase period, books and supplies purchased using financial aid cannot be returned to the university Bookstore for cash. Refunds for returned items must be credited back to the individual student's financial aid account.
