Fahren Nipple and Quadre Curry-WilkersonALBANY – Albany State University (ASU) recently held its annual competition to elect university student leaders. Fahren Nipple and Quadre Curry-Wilkerson will represent ASU for the 2019-2020 academic year as Miss Albany State and the Student Government Association president, respectively.

Nipple is a junior majoring in forensic science with a minor in biology. She is an Augusta native. Nipple said that her recent selection as Miss Albany State University opens doors for other ASU students.  Her platform is “Identify Yourself and Embrace You!”

With her platform she plans to collaborate with local clubs and organizations such as the Boys and Girls Club of Albany. She also plans to produce encouraging workshops to help students embrace who they are.  As Miss ASU, she would like to come up with a pamphlet that will be a part of the freshmen orientation packet. This pamphlet will describe her platform and explain how to use her seven actions.

“My seven steps are stand up, listen up, speak up, follow up, set up, stay up and pray up. This seven step process is applicable in both school and the real world,” Nipple said.

Quadre Curry-Wilkerson was elected the SGA president for the 2019-2020 school year. He is a junior majoring in fine arts and a Detroit native. Curry-Wilkerson said that his election gives him the opportunity to better his campus and build an administration that works diligently to create positive change. His platform is “L.E.A.P into a Brighter Future!”

“I want like to give students a voice and maintain a high standard of leadership,” Curry-Wilkerson said.

He plans to work closely with the community and provide benefits for both Albany State University and Albany residents.

“I will be an advocate for the student body and serve as a liaison between the student body and the administration,” Curry-Wilkerson said.

The term for both Miss ASU and the SGA president will begin August 2019. There will be a coronation for Miss ASU during the homecoming celebrations in October.
