Albany State University Student-Athletes Academic Success

Albany State University’s (ASU) Athletics Department continues to meet the standard of excellence through achieving an overall 3.06 student-athlete GPA in Fall 2021.

ASU President, Marion Ross Fedrick stated “Our student-athletes take on the responsibility of athletics and academics. Even with the mentorship of our outstanding faculty, staff, and community members, this is not an easy balance and I applaud our student-athletes tenacity to achieve their goals in all areas. They truly are our Golden Rams and I look forward to all that they will continue to achieve in the coming academic semesters.”

In addition to their academic achievements, ASU student-athletes celebrated an accomplished season as seen through the Women's Cross-Country team that received second place in the SIAC Cross Country championship, Women’s Soccer team that received the Peach Belt Conference Team Sportsmanship Award, and the Women’s Volleyball team that won the SIAC East Division for the third year in a row. Also, ASU’s Football team ranked number three in the NCAA’s Super Region 2, won the SIAC Championship, and hosted an NCAA playoff game.

Athletics Directory, Anthony (Tony) Duckworth stated “I am very proud of the successes Golden Ram athletics teams have achieved this year. I am especially thankful for the tremendous job our coaches do leading our student-athletes to success in the classroom and competitions. Our student-athletes are outstanding."
