Albany State Celebrates Basketball Homecoming

Albany State University (ASU) celebrated the Homecoming Basketball game against rival, Fort Valley State University (FVSU) last night. The Jones Brothers HPER Complex was packed with students, faculty, staff, alumni, and community members cheering on the Golden Rams for the sold-out game. 

The women’s game was neck and neck, with both teams playing hard. The Lady Rams put up a good fight, but ultimately fell to the Wildcats 62-65. The men’s team were victorious with a final score of 73-64. 

For the women’s game, Kayla Milner led the Golden Rams in scoring with 10 points Keshay Hankerson and Juanisha Black each finished with 8 points each. 

For the men’s game, Maxwell Harris led the Golden Rams in scoring 18 points, followed by Malik Parker scoring 15 points, Jordan Simpson scoring 14 points and 11 rebounds, and Khalif Napoleon scoring 11 points. 

“We are so proud of our student-athletes for the commitment and dedication they have put into this season so far. It was a hard game for both teams, which will prepare them for their next time on the court,” said ASU Athletics Director Tony Duckworth.   

The Golden Rams will face off against Clark Atlanta University on Monday, February 14 for their next and last home game of the season.
